From 1st July, 2011 the NSW Government will pay $7,000.00 to home buyers who relocate from metropolitan to regional areas.  This one off payment is paid to buyers who sell the owner occupied metropolitan home and move to participating local goverment regional areas.  Maitland is one of these regional areas.  Metropolitan areas include Sydney, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Gosford, Wyong, Wollondilly, Wollongong and Newcastle.  The grant is applicable to contracts entered into between 1st July, 2011 and 30th June, 2015.  Buyers must have owned and occupied their metropolitan home and sell it either before or within 12 months after completion of the purchase of the regional home purchase.  Buyers must occupy the regional home as their principal place of residence for at least 12 continuous months commencing within 12 months after the completion of their regional home purchase.  The Grant is only payable once and the property cannot be purchased in a company or trust name.  At least one buyer must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.  If you know someone relocating to a regional area, make sure they are aware that they could be eligible for the $7,000 Relocation Grant to assist with the cost of relocating.
